Crane Runway Alignment

A properly aligned crane is necessary to meet rigorous performance demands within the material handling industry.

Poor alignment causes strain on motor drives and other equipment. Skewing, uneven rails and premature wheel wear shorten the lifespan of your equipment system. We provide an in-depth crane runway alignment service that is in accordance with CMAA requirements.

Our certified technicians will evaluate the crane and runway conditions, and determine the best method for correcting any discrepancies, through the use of transit and laser equipment. If out of elevation, the runway is shimmed so that it’s all level. In the case of under-hung cranes, we recommend “floating one runway.”
Normal tolerance of beams will cause the wheels to bind as they pass down the runway. Using special sway hangers eliminates this binding. In the case of top running cranes, alignment procedures typically consist of shimming the beams, and adjusting rail hook bolts or rail clips to align the crane rail. The beams would go up/down to level through the use of shims and the crane rail would be adjusted side-to-side.
